- The vote passed 219 in favor, 212 opposed

- cost to government and tax payers: over $850 billion
- bill included issues like: abortion, money to cities, federal take over of student loans, and other things not related to health care
- some states are suing because they believe it is their state right to decide if they want to offer universal health care, not the governments.... violates Amendment 10- laws not specificaly reserved for federal are given to the state
What effect will universal health care have on a nation economically?
How do you feel about universal health care?
Check with your parents or other adults to see their views on this policy.
It will affect the economy of course but it will help many people well everyone since ¨every American must have health care¨. People need this since not everyone can afford going to the doctor specially if they dont have a job. Im not really sure if i agree with the fact that part time workers will have to have it also. Probably full time workers should be the only ones being given health care. I think health care should be universal because if millions can be spent on killing eachtoher i think we can spend a few millions on healing ourselves. One thing that could cause problems though is the fact that it violates the amendments...whats the point of having them if they can be overan?
ReplyDeleteit will effect the economy with all that money, but at the same time all americans must have health care. i dont have much to say:p i agree with alejandro
ReplyDeleteDaniel Fernadez
I also agree with Alejandro
ReplyDelete“People need this since not everyone can afford going to the doctor specially if they dont have a job.”
It is true… if people start getting ill because they don’t have money (a paper), it should be consider an act of inhuman.
We should think first of our health care than anything else.
Life is one, and we won’t be able to come back after it’s done.
i should say that i agree with my classmates, everyone around the world not only americans need health care no matter what !! people get sick like twice or lots of time in a year, write know people are jobless if they dont have a job they wont be able to pay doctor or a hospital thats why y should say that of course american do need healthcare no matter if the economy gets worst or better !
ReplyDeleteI believe that health care is very important for those unemployed. Eventhough, most governments spend ridiculous amounts of money on these plans and people some times misuse these "gifts" that are given to them. I also agree with my classmates on the fact that it benefits the most those unemployed like I mencioned before.
ReplyDeleteI believe health care is good. Everyone has the right to be able to go to the doctor, have medicines, etc. even if they cannot afford it. About the states, maybe they should have gotten some type of say, but in the end, I think this will be good for everyone. In a couple of years, people will be saying how was life without it ? About the high price in it, well.. something must be done with the money. It is better to use it in issues that are vital.
ReplyDeleteHallo everyone! This is Mara's ghost reporting:
ReplyDeleteI believe having health care is good, I mean everyone has the right to go to the doc, beign checked...equality...Even though this bill was taken as inmediate and as a SURPRISE PARTY, I believe that the inmediate action is what counts, how can the USA survive without healthcare? The prices are something they will have to resolver but her, step by step everything is possible, but the idea of having a health care was right now and forever 2of life and death"....
HAVE A NICE SPRING BREAK Y'ALL! <3
Health has always been a "lucky" thing to have. In a world where everyone has some type of disease or gets infected, health care is needed IMMENSELY. The govnt made a huge step in providing health care for everyone, because it is something that needs to be given TO EVERYONE, BECAUSE EVERYONE NEEDS IT like air. There are families that can pay there own health care, but there are others that have family members that die because they dont have enough money to pay for cures and are obliged to sit back and watch their dear ones die. Now it is different, it is much better, in a few years everyone will notice.
ReplyDeleteAnd something else, "some states are suing because they believe it is their state right to decide if they want to offer universal health care, not the governments" so this so-called states have the RIGHT to decide whether they should give health care to its citizens or not? Congratulations to those states that want to decide for others, i bet those that are against it are the rich ones that dont even have a minimal idea of what being poor and not being able to pay to stay alive is.
shoot. i thought TODAY was sunday but it's actually monday. :o
